Stud Poker Rules

7 Card Stud:

7 Card Stud and variations of it are probably one of the more complex poker games around. Stud games are usually played with antes and a bring-in. Antes are a certain amount that players put in the pot before the hand begins(usually it’s 10-15% of the small bet).

Bring-in is posted by the player showing the highest card after the first 3 cards are dealt(it’s usually 25-50% of the small bet). Example: In a 1$/2$ fixed limit game the ante would be between 0.10-0.15$ and the bring in would be between 0.25$ and 0.50$.

How the game runs:

First all players get dealt two cards face down and one card face up. The antes are posted. Now the player with the highest card showing has the option to either post the bring in or raise(in a fixed limit game he can raise to the amount of the small bet). The betting then continues to the left, around the table, starting with the player left of the bring in.

After that, each player is dealt another card face up and another round of betting begins. Betting starts with the player that is showing the highest card combination. There are 3 more betting rounds like this one, except in the last one instead of each player getting dealt a card face up, the card is dealt face down.

Now each player should have 3 cards face down and 4 cards face up. Like in all other poker games the player with the best 5 card combination(made from the cards infront of him) wins.
