Card Games Planet is usually focused on classic cards games, but some collectable card games are sometimes too fun to ignore. Hearthstone is one such card game.
Developed by Blizzard and based on the popular online role playing game World of Warcraft, Hearthstone is a simple yet very complex game. You can find some fun Hearthstone videos and articles, and even post your own here, just to give you an idea about what I’m talking about.
The game itself is a lot like the all-time classic and still very popular Magic: The Gathering, but simpler and more appealing for online play. To give it a quick overview…
You have 9 heros with different hero powers that you can chose from and a deck of 30 cards. When you first register you will get some basic cards and unlock the rest of them while you play. For more advance cards from different expansions you’ll have to buy with either Coins (in-game currency that you collect as you play) or real money.
The entire point of the game is to reduce the opposing heros health to 0 by attacking him/her with minions and spells that you summon and cast with your cards. To give the game some extra complexity there are special »powers« that some minions have:
-Deathrattle = something happens when the minion does
-Battlecry = something happens when you summon a minion
-Inspire = something happens when you use your hero power
-Some minions also just induce some effect the entire time they are on the board
To make the game even more interesting, you have all kinds of play modes. You can play Casual and just battle other players, or you can play Ranked and compete for the highest ranked position till the end of a season (1 month).
You also have adventure modes where you play through different storylines and acquire new powerful cards. And finally you have the Tavern brawl mode where you can try your hand at basically a new game with different special crazy rules each new week.
Since it’s a complex game, yet simply fun, there is only one way for you to truly understand it and that is by giving it a shot yourself. Enjoy!
